Happy Hour #265 – Cocktail Time

While the origins of happy hour date back to Shakespeare, it is more commonly known to have become popular during prohibition. Because alcohol could not be served at restaurants, people would gather in a speakeasy for drinks before going out to eat. Once alcohol was legal again, bars used happy hour as a promotion to get people to come in before heading out to dinner, offering cocktails at half price during off peak hours.
