We focus on anything and everything of the Atomic Age and the Cold War. This would be approximately from 1950 to as late as 1975. Many will say it started after WWII and ended with the Vietnam War in the 1960s. My personal is it began in the 1950s with the recovery and prosperity in America began, and when the old guard like President Nixon ended the Vietnam War, took us off the Gold Standard and finally resigned. To me, that spelled the real end of the Midcentury in a very definitive series of events. Tiki bars closed, cocktails came in powdered packets you can make at home and disco was all the rage.
I am trying to recapture a time when life seemed a bit simpler. I know things were complicated then, but at the end of the day, we put it all away. Today, things cost money. TV is not free, listening to music comes with a subscription, and bringing it to you costs money too.
THE FACTS:
- Aside from EVERYTHING else you see on this site, even without the materials, it costs at least $1/day to keep this website online.
- Costs INCLUDE server fees, hosting, domain names, cloud services, etc.
- Items like glassware, liquor, food for recipes, time is either paid by me and/or donated, so please don’t think this money goes towards dining/drinking out on the town – all those expenses are absorbed by myself.
- All donations are PRIVATE unless you wish to be recognized, if so, let me know your birthday for a personal shoutout OR someone you want to be designated for that shoutout on social media.
- Yes, this is a hobby, I continue to work 50+ hours per week, but with everyone else making money off patreon, YouTube, Adsense, its only fair that we cut the middleman (major corporations) and give just $1 back so I can continue to build this site as a resource.
