Cartagena was a nice vacation from the norm. While it is humid, the food and price certainly did make up for it. You can live a life of luxury for less than half what it might cost you in other Caribbean spots. The first thing people might say ask is “Is it safe”?  And yes, I found it to be safe. In fact, it is rumored that it is where the drug lords from the cartels vacation with their families, so it is going to be pretty safe.  While every place has its sources of crime, this was not one of them in my experience, though I know it exists.  The beaches are not as beautiful as you might expect, but you can easily get a bottle of wine, appetizers, main course, and dessert for two and tip all for under $100. At least this was the case in 2022. Prices are always rising and fluctuating, but this was one thing I was happy about.  The humidity was on whole other level, as much as I love the hot weather and loathe the cold, this humidity was so thick you can cut it with a knife.
