Jon Santer from San Francisco, California came up with this sometime around 2003. While the combination does not sound likely, it is a winner. The spice and sweetness of the rye along with the coffee liqueur play together well, although in this recipe I cut back the coffee and added an extra dash of orange bitters. While it is not my favorite, it is something I would definitely try again.
REVOLVER COCKTAIL
- 2 ounces quality rye whiskey
- 1/4 ounce Mr. Black coffee liqueur
- 2-3 dashes Fee’s Orange bitters
- GARNISH: Orange peel (flamed if you can)
- METHOD: Stir all ingredients together well with plenty of ice until well chilled, strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with flamed orange peel.
