Whiskey Sour
The Whiskey Sour was one of my first and favorite cocktails. It is simple and will immediately “fix” any whiskey that is not of quality or up to par because the lemon juice and simple syrup will certainly mask the flavor. Now, if you use bourbon or a good American Whiskey like Michter’s, and use honey instead of sugar, you have the Gold Rush cocktail. I remember having this first at Geoffrey Zakarian place, The Lamb’s Club in Manhattan. I also had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife that night. We had an interesting conversation about, what else, ice and craft mixology.
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 2 ounces American or Canadian Whiskey (need not be bourbon or rye)
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup.
- 1 dash Angostura bittters
METHOD: Combine all ingredients and mix well, can also be shaken.
