Negroni Sour

Negroni Sour

White I love the original Negroni and the concept of this, some things are better left to the original version.  A Negroni sour is not bad, but it’s even better in its original format.  You are not increasing the amount of alcohol, only the volume of the drink with the added lemon juice, egg white, sugar and ice.  Perhaps this is a drink you want to sip on a little longer as it amounts to about 5 ounces instead of about 3 with an original Negroni.  For those willing to try something different, here is the recipe.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ounce London Dry Gin
  • 1 ounce Sweet Vermouth
  • 1 ounce Campari
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • GARNISH: Orange peel

METHOD

  1. Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker without ice. Shake hard for at least 10 seconds.
  2. Add ice and continue to shake until very cold, about another 20 seconds
  3. Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass
  4. Garnish with lemon or orange rind
