What I love most about Film Noir is its scenes at bars, as if it is something unsavory where all the killers, undercover cops and private investigators come to face off, as if it were a saloon from an old western. One of the more interesting ones is Blue Gardenia which takes place at a Tiki Bar. While there are too many to list or mention, these are some of my favorites.  You will even hear some of these in the Cocktail Coup shows on Mixcloud.

There is a great book out by Eddie Mulder called Bar Noir which features great cocktails from classic movies and how to make them at home.

  • Affair in Trinidad – This was supposed to be Rita Hayworth’s comeback after her movie Gilda.
  • Big Bluff – Interesting movie with a lot of cocktail-centered plots
  • Big Sleep – Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall at their best, and one of most famous Film Noir.
  • Blue Gardenia – centered around cocktails, there is a great tiki bar scene and a drunken mystery.
  • Doube Enmity – It all started with a Martini.
  • Gilda – probably one of the most famous of Film Noir, but also of Rita Hayworth
