Lowball Drink

Similar to a Highball served in a tall glass with soda, the lowball is just a rocks glass with mostly spirits over ice and sometimes a splash of water or soda.  Frank Sinatra was probably most famous for this, he enjoyed 3 ounces of Jack Daniel’s whiskey over 2 ice cubes and a splash of water.  Sinatra’s idol and drinking partner Humphrey Bogart in The Big Sleep would oder Rye whiskey the same way with “plain water” which simply meant, not sparkling soda water.
