Raines Law Room
Raine’s Law Room

Unlike most modern speakeasies, Raine’s Law Room in Manhattan actually was and still is. During prohibition, anyone from out of their country who was visiting were allowed to consume alcohol if they were staying at the hotel. So, they put up a bunch of mattresses and started serving alcohol, not just to the locals, but of course anyone who was in fact visiting from outside of the United States. They have 2 locations, but I think the better one is on West 17th Street in Chelsea. They actually have the old fashioned booths where you had to ring a bell to summon the waiter for another drink.
