Caipirinha

Caipirinha

Brazil’s national cocktail is the Caipirinha, and is simply sugar, lime juice and cachaça, the Brazilian version of rum.  If you ever want to find it in a liquor store, you will typically find it in the rum section, although Brazilians believe it should have its own category.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 ounce caçhaca, or rhum agricole if you cannot find it.
  • 1 lime quartered.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar.

METHOD:

  1. Put 2 teaspoons or 1 tablespoon of sugar into a rocks glass
  2. Quarter lime and muddle with sugar
  3. Add ice and pour caçhaca, stir well.
