Skipper (Alan Hale)

Thurston Howell III (Jim Backus) The multi millionaire, and most might not get the reference unless they were up on history and the plight of Hawaii.  Thurston was a rich while business owner to fought tooth and nail to overthrow the Hawaiian Monarchy for the sake of his own corporate greed.  Haole is a term (sometimes negative in context) to describe white men who are outsiders and not of Hawaiian or indigenous descent.  In this sense, Haole most certainly refers to Thurston Howell, a rich old white business man who is completely out of touch with the common folk.
