Margarita
Margarita

Many say this was named after famous Hollywood actress Rita Hayworth, whose real name was Margarita. She had this in Mexico, loved it, and it became her go-to drink. Before Marilyn Monroe, Ava Gardner or even Lauren Bacall, there was Rita Hayworth.
One of the most popular cocktails of all time, this is a very simple cocktail, based on the same formula of every other cocktail which is sugar and lime juice. Simply replace the main spirit of the gimlet, daiquiri, or whiskey with tequila, and you have a Margarita. The easiest version to remember is 3, 2, 1. 3 Parts tequila, 2 parts lime juice, 1 part sugar. Stir or shake over ice, and pour into a rocks glass or strain to serve straight up.
The salt garnish is optional. Probably to replenish the salt supply from sweating it out under the hot Mexican sun.
